family friendly holidays
In the UK we are so lucky to have an abundance of quality, family-friendly, holiday destinations right on our doorstep. The ash cloud and threats of strike action, resulting in the possibility of spending days stranded at the airport, means that many families have opted for local holiday destination this year. Some parents simply cannot face the prospect of long check-in queues, airport transfers and hours of travelling with tired tots on early morning flights.
When you have small children, it is comforting to know that everything is so close to hand. In the unfortunate event that you or your family would need medical attention, there is no need to worry! Your family will receive the same level of medical care as if they were at home; you will not need to be concerned with language barriers or producing insurance documents to obtain immediate treatment.
Exploring the UK this summer provides a wealth of cultural diversity with no limitations for those who get bored easily. Museums, theme parks, wildlife parks and historical local attractions ensure that there is always something to see and do.
Many families still opt to spend their summer on Britain’s beautiful beaches; this type of holiday is still a favourite with young and old alike. Traditional holiday towns offer streets lined with shops filled with beach toys, gifts and sticks of rock. Donkey rides on the beach, the smell of fish and chips filling the seaside air, bags of pink fluffy candyfloss and the thrill of the funfair, are still appealing to families of all ages.
Close to nature no longer means spending your time in a tent! If this is not for you, alternatives like farm holidays are proving to be popular. Beautifully renovated farm buildings provide a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Accommodation on working farms offers a taste of rural life and is great for those who want to give their children an awareness of the natural beauty that fills the stunning countryside around them. Many rural breaks now offer easy access to activities such as golf, horse riding, walking and cycling for those who are looking for a more active break.
